The Internet is out of St. Patrick's Day Swim Caps

February 27, 2012 by Katie

You heard right.  There's not a St. Patrick's Day swim cap to be found on the entire Internet.  How can this be?  St. Patrick's Day is the most important holiday (holiweek in our house) of the year.  Am I to swim in my everyday cap?  Or resort to an ugly shade of green?

If you're a longtime reader, you may remember that I already have a perfectly awesome St. Patrick's Day cap.

Well, I don't have it anymore.  I attended a swim clinic in La Jolla Cove in July, and one of the girls didn't have a cap.  She was nervous about swimming in the ocean.  She had red hair, so I thought she would appreciate borrowing this MOST FABULOUS of caps.  Which she did.

But she didn't appreciate the gesture enough to return the cap.  Even though I hounded her about it on SEVERAL occasions.

So St. Patrick's Week is only two weeks away, and I don't have any leads on a cap.  SwimOutlet.com1Line SportsSpeedoTyr?  Evil Red-Headed Cap Stealer?  You're leaving me high and dry.

Does anyone know where I can get one?  Or do you know any good hitmen?  (Wait, scratch that last part.  I think I remember something in Blogging 101 about never using your blog to advertise for a hitman.)

Katie, you just *have* to get that lucky swim suit.

Don't know if you like this one, but 1 Line's lucky cap appears to be available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Line-Sports-Lucky-Swim-GREEN/dp/B0064I2SFC.

I may just have to.  The shamrock on the back kind of seals the deal.  If I get that, I can go with a solid green cap.  How've you been?  I'm on my way to the lake this morning--first time since Thanksgiving weekend.  I'm expecting the water temps to be in the high 50s.

Been good, thanks

High 50's? Nice!! Will feel rather chilly, I'm sure, and you'll do great. My water's in the low 50's; it's been a fairly warm winter. Still feels, um, invigorating to me.

Am still on PT for the shoulder, which has improved a good bit. Still not right, so I may go to a doc for pictures. I've been doing a modified breaststroke and very little crawl. I'll start increasing the freestyle next week -- I have my first session with a coach (in the pool). She's also a monster ow swimmer, so I'm very psyched to work with her. My PT knows her and was happy to hear my plans, so that was good confirmation.

Hey, several people from my club are swimming the Suck this year. Someone said 8 people, but I don't know if that's from just my club or both of them. Keep an eye out for the Dolphins and Southenders. They're generally pretty friendly.

I'll be interested to hear

I'll be interested to hear how it goes with the new coach.  And nice to know there will be some friendly faces at Swim the Suck.

The lake was 55°, and the air temperature was a windy 47°.  Brrrrrrr!  Fifty-five is a completely different ballgame than 60°.  Hopefully I'll write something about it today or tomorrow.

This cap might work?

Splish makes a cap with a four-leaf clover on it: http://www.splish.com/product/lucky-cap-splish-cap

The matching suit is cute too (I have the green and pink one).

Awesome!  Thanks for the comment and for visiting.  That suit is adorable.  I wish the cap was the same color green as the suit.  But, I may just have to order one.  Or maybe get the suit and a plain cap.  Hmmmmm....
